清华大学宫鹏团队与国内外科研人员合作，绘制出世界首幅10米分辨率全球地表覆盖图（FROM-GLC10）。在日前在线发表于《科学通报》的文章中，该团队报告了相关制图方法与结果。
当前世界发展面临诸如城市化、农业扩张、资源过度开采等一系列挑战，通过更高分辨率的土地覆盖信息，能够更好地进行环境监测。2011年，宫鹏团队率先完成全球首个30米分辨率地表覆盖制图，此次的10米分辨率全球土地覆盖产品是在此基础上的一个推进。
“从FROM-GLC10上能获得比30米分辨率地表覆盖图更精细的信息，对于30米图上看不到的小居民点、较小的水塘和农田乃至一些路面都可以区分，当然数据量和对计算的要求也提高了近10倍。”宫鹏告诉《中国科学报》。新产品除了基于研究组自2011年以来在全球30米地表覆盖制图获得的经验和在样本库建设方面的积累之外，还得益于10米分辨率Sentinel-2全球影像的完整存储和免费获取，还有谷歌地球引擎平台强大的云计算能力。
新产品依据全球约9.3万个样本点位上30余万个不同季节的训练样本所训练的分类器，通过对样本数量和误差深入分析和模拟，提出“地表覆盖有限样本稳定分类”理论。
作为当前最精细的全球地表覆盖数据，FROM-GLC10使我国在全球地表覆盖制图方面继续走在前列，具备随时对世界任何地方农业、森林、水面等状况的快速制图和监测能力。相关数据已面向全球公开发布。
