A: You have to be. Playing an individual sport isn't easy.
M: Yeah, there's nobody to depend on but yourself. I learned that when I played badminton in school.
A: You played badminton? Cool! Swimming and running were my thing.
M: I imagine you were really fast in the pool and on the track.
A: I wasn't too bad. I came in first in some of my races.
M: Do you still swim and run?

M: I also played basketball and volleyball. Did you play any team sports?
A: No. Most team sports are ball sports, but I can't catch, throw, hit, or kick a ball to save my life.
M: Didn't your father ever do those things with you?
A: He tried to teach me to play baseball once, but I could never get my hands and eyes to work together.
M: My coaches always said skills get better with practice.
A: That makes sense.

M: Me too. I always wanted to play soccer, but my school didn't have a team.

A: You got that right! It'll be so exciting to catch a big wave or ski down a snowy mountain.
M: Yeah, but you might also break your neck!
A: Come on! Every sport has its risks.
