回答: 嗯,'toile' 法语是衣服。中法古代这种用语习惯倒是暗合的。:) 由 sprusr 于 2021-12-04 23:36

Why is it called toilette? 6park.com

Eau de Toilette (or Toilet Water) derives its name from the French word “Toilette” which means “a small piece of cloth” but has a specific reference to shaving and grooming. 6park.com

Is it toilet or toilette? 6park.com

English speakers borrowed the word in the 16th century, and eventually settled on the spelling toilet while still making use of toilette in the "grooming" sense. 6park.com

Ezra Pound's Cathay was out in 1915. In my post, I have clearly pointed out that he wouldn't hesitate to use archaic English. 6park.com

I am done.
