42 years maintaining aircraft. Allow me to enlighten you. The first scenes were of Radio Controlled jets, with very skilled operators. They do actually make fuel burning turbines in some of them, most definitely in the 6 or 8 foot models, which can cost tens of thousands of dollars. The later scenes were of an actual plane and the puffs of smoke are from a black powder cartridge starter system which uses the burning gasses to spin the compressor section of the turbine so that it will be moving air fast enough to allow fuel to be introduced and the start sequence to continue building RPMs. (Too much fuel at too low of an rpm with cause heat damage to the turbine blades at the aft end of the turbine section.)
