今天看到jameskelly版主的热帖《皇家美术馆》，我也翻了翻老照片，重温往日的回忆。无论是伦敦的皇家美术馆，大英博物馆，还是巴黎的卢浮宫，奥赛博物馆，如果想仔细欣赏，每一个博物馆都需要逛两天的时间。一般游客行程比较紧张，大多是走马观花。还好当年伦敦之行时间比较充裕，使我有机会二度参观皇家美术馆。 6park.com

圣母圣徒加冕
Attributed to Jacopo di Cione (probably active 1362; died 1398/1400) and workshop The Coronation of the Virgin with Adoring Saints, 1370-1 
This is the main tier of the high altarpiece of San Pier Maggiore in Florence. Panels from the upper tier are also displayed in this room. Among the saints watching Christ crown the Virgin is Saint Peter (on the left) holding a model of the church. The altarpiece was probably designed by Niccolo di Pietro Gerini, a Florentine artist with whom Jacopo di Cione often collaborated. The style of the altarpiece is that of Jacopo.  6park.com

Rogier van der Weyden (about 1399-1464) The Magdalen Reading, before 1438 The Magdalen is identified by her jar of ointment. The headless figure behind her is probably Saint Joseph. The truncated figure kneeling on the left - shown at full-length in a drawing which appears to record the composition - is Saint John the Evangelist_ This painting is a fragment, apparently from the right-hand side of a large altarpiece which no longer survives. The whole altarpiece probably showed the Virgin and Child in the centre with attendant saints on e ther side.  6park.com

Jacopo Tintoretto (about 1518-1594) The Origin of the Milky Way, about 1575 Jupiter sought immortality for his illegitimate son Hercules. He carried him to the breast of his sleeping wife Juno, but the goddess awoke. Her milk spurted out to create the Milky Way in the heavens and lilies on earth, rather than making Hercules divine. The painting was probably commissioned by the medical specialist Tommaso Rangone, perhaps for Emperor Maximilian.

Bronzino (1503-1572) The Madonna and Child with Saints, about 1540 Christ is visited by his cousin John the Baptist, who brings emblems of Christ's future sacrifice — strawberries and a reed cross. Christ gazes rapturously at the cross, while his mother looks on with tender sadness. The older woman is the Baptist's mother, Saint Elizabeth. Oil on wood  6park.com

Correggio (active 1494; died 1534) The School of Love, about 1525 Mercury instructs the young Cupid, who is carefully watched by his mother Venus, unusually shown with wings. The painting includes fantastic details, such as the knotted animal paws in the sandal on Mercury's right foot. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Joachim Wtewael (1566-1638) The Judgement of Paris, 1615 Homer's Iliad tells the story of the wedding of Peleus and Thetis at which the quarrel over who was the fairest of the goddesses had taken place. In the foreground Paris hands Venus the golden apple marked 'to the fairest'. Her rivals were Juno, on the left, and Minerva, on the right. Paris's choice eventually led to the outbreak of the Trojan War. Oil on oak  6park.com

Possibly by Anthony van Dyck (1599-1641) Drunken Silenus supported by Satyrs, about 1620 In this scene of drunken revelry, old Silenus is supported by satyrs, and a young bacchante squeezes grapes over his head. The painting was produced in Rubens's studio; the figures may be by the young Van Dyck, but the fruit in the foreground is probably by another studio assistant, Frans Snijders. Cognoscenti in a Room hung with Pictures, about 1620 This imaginary ideal gallery is crammed with paintings, sculpture and astronomical instruments, showing the best of what was available in private collections in Antwerp. The pictures include works by Joachim Beuckelaer, Hendrick van Steenwyck the Younger, Jan Brueghel the Elder and David Teniers the Elder. The richly dressed cognoscenti or connoisseurs discuss the room' s contents. Oil on oak 6park.com

Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-1797) An Experiment on a Bird in the Air Pump, 1768 A lecturer demonstrates the creation of a vacuum to a family. A white cockatoo (an exotic bird, unlikely in fact to have been used for this experiment) is imprisoned in a glass flask from which the air is being extracted by a pump. The candlelit setting is characteristic of Wright's interest in dramatic contrasts of light and shade. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Claude Monet (1840-1926) The Water-Lily Pond, 1899 For more than 30 years at the end of his life, Monet found the subject matter for his art in the gardens at his home in Giverny. The water-lily pond there and the Japanese bridge he constructed across it were the principal motifs in a group of '17 paintings he began in 1899, including this work. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Monet travelled to London to avoid the Franco-Prussian War. The grey hazy sky successfully evokes the fogs for which 19th-century London was notorious. Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament are shown in the background. On the right, a wooden pier projects from the newly constructed Victoria Embankment. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Berthe Morisot (1841-1895) 
Girl on a Divan, about 1885 Morisot was always remarkably free in her distinctive handling of paint, the canvas animated here by vivtd, quick touches of colour. The sitter was probably a paid model, but her frank and direct gaze suggests a friendship between sitter and artist. Morisot's daughter later dated this work to 1885. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Camille Pissarro (183a-1903) 
The Boulevard Montmartre at Night, 1897 This picture is Pissarro's only night scene. It is one of a series of views that he painted of the Paris boulevard, showing it at various times of the day and in different weather conditions. Here, the reflections of street lights and shop fronts evoke the atmosphere of a wet winter's evening. Oil on canvas  6park.com

Georges Seurat (1859-1891) 
Bathers at Asnieres, 1884 
Asnieres is a suburb of Paris. On the right is the island of the Grande Jatte and in the distance, the factories of Clichy. Seurat reworked parts of the picture, such as the hat of the boy on the right, probably in 1886 after he had invented the technique of using dots of contrasting colour to create a vibrant, luminous effect. The work is based on numerous preparatory drawings and oil sketches.

Two Crabs, 1889
After his release from hospital in Arles in January 1889, Van Gogh embarked on a series of still lifes, including crab studies. This painting may show the same crab upright and on its back. Parallel strokes sculpt the creature's form on an exuberant sea-like surface.
